The poem makes so much sense after the explanation 😭, It completely went over my head earlier. If I didn't have the patience to read the explanation or if I wasn't interested in butterflies, I might not have continued reading and missed this beautiful piece. So May I suggest introducing the context first?

We left acres of our land fallow to grow milkweed and it paid off in butterflies. We recently sold it and I can only hope the new owners do the same.

Even though I knew something of the Monarchs’ migration, there was some mind blowing information in the text that leaves me in awe of nature (my default position to be honest) and the poem itself is just wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing. πŸ‘

This is such a beautiful and touching poem. So delicately weaved together.

And I think it's so lovely that you're suggesting a way to help the monarchs - yes to that!

Beautiful! They actually migrate through Pismo Beach, California which is about an hour from me so I've been able to go out and see their protected groves when they are there in the winter. It's incredible.
